Friday Focus

December 13, 2024

Dear Families and Community Members,

  1. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) recently completed its evaluation visit to our schools on December 9th-11th, 2024. NEASC is a recognized accrediting body that sets standards for schools and colleges. Their periodic visits assess the quality of education and operations. This visit is a crucial step for the York School Department, demonstrating our dedication to providing excellent education. We extend our gratitude to the NEASC visiting team for their diligent work in reviewing our students' programs, facilities, leadership, and strategic plans.

  2. Thank you for taking the time to complete the most recent bus survey. The information you provided is crucial for First Student Inc. as they prepare accurate bus stop locations for the second half of the school year. If you haven’t already, please complete the attached

    survey

by Monday, December 16, 2024. Your timely response will help ensure a smooth and efficient start to the services provided by First Student Inc.

  3. The York School Department is committed to a smooth and safe transition to the new bus service. To this end, we have requested that First Student Inc. share the updated bus routes and stops with all York families by Tuesday, December 17, 2024. To further facilitate this transition, we will be hosting a New Driver Day. This event will include introductions to our department, a practice run of all nine (9) bus routes, and a lunch with the school administration. We aim to ensure a seamless start to the second half of the school year for everyone.

  4. The York School Department held a bid opening for the new athletic complex at York High School on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Seven contractors submitted bids for the project. These bids will be reviewed with our architect (CHA) to determine the successful bidder. We expect to announce the winning contractor next week. This is a significant milestone for the York School Department and the town of York as we move forward with this important project.
