Dear Families and Community Members,

1. The York School Department deeply appreciates the outstanding work of the Ledgemere bus drivers. Their dedication to ensuring the safe and timely transportation of our students is invaluable. We understand that recent changes may have caused uncertainty, and we want to assure you that our decision to partner with First Transportation was not a reflection of the excellent service provided by Ledgemere drivers. We value the positive relationships built between the drivers, students, and families and hope to maintain these connections as we move forward. We remain committed to providing the best possible transportation options for our students.  As we navigate these changes, our primary goal is to ensure the continued well-being and success of our students. We hope to work collaboratively with First Transportation to maintain the high standards of service and positive relationships that have been established.  The York School Department values the hard work and dedication of the Ledgemere bus drivers. Your efforts to ensure our students' safe and efficient transportation are truly appreciated.

2. When I taught school many years ago, I loved math, but I chose to start my career in education as a social studies teacher. I was always fascinated with history and asked the “What if” question.”  As I worked through my teaching years, I always believed that math was necessary, so Why is math important to learn and use every day… Math is the bedrock of our modern economy, driving innovation and powering industries. From engineering and data science to finance and logistics, mathematical skills are essential for problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making. As technology advances, the demand for individuals with strong mathematical abilities will only grow.  Math empowers us to collect, analyze, and interpret vast amounts of data, enabling businesses to make informed decisions, identify trends, and optimize operations. Moreover, mathematical modeling and simulation are crucial for predicting future outcomes, mitigating risks, and developing strategies for sustainable growth. By fostering a solid foundation in mathematics, we invest in the future of our economy, ensuring that our nation remains competitive in a globalized world.

3. Melanie Ladd has been nominated for the Life Changer of the Year Award.
