January 14, 2026
The first of two public information sessions was held at the York Public Library on January 14th. This was an open forum for community members to ask questions and receive information from the School Committee. The next information night will be on January 21st at 5:00pm, also at the Public Library. These sessions are streamed and available for viewing on Town Hall Streams.

January 9, 2026 - Shaping the Future of Our Schools: Join the Conversation
Dear York Community,
As we continue to evaluate the best path forward for our School Department, we want to ensure that every voice in our town is heard. School reorganization and consolidation are significant topics that affect not just our students and teachers, but our entire community.
To facilitate an open and transparent dialogue, we are hosting two Public Information Nights this month. These sessions are designed to provide a clear overview of the current proposals, offer educational insights into the "why" behind these changes, and—most importantly—listen to your feedback.
Join Us:
When: Wednesday, January 14th & Wednesday, January 21st
Time: 5:00 PM
Where: York Public Library
We Want to Hear from You Early
To make these evenings as productive as possible, we want to walk into the room prepared with the answers you need. We have developed a questionnaire to gather your questions and concerns ahead of time.
By sharing your thoughts via this survey, you allow the committee to identify the most pressing themes—whether they are about the long-term financial impact or academic programming—and address them directly during the presentation.
Your perspective is invaluable as we work together to build a sustainable and thriving educational environment for York’s students. We look forward to seeing you at the library on the 14th and 21st.

December 22nd, 2025 Update to the Selectboard
On December 22, 2025, School Committee Chairperson Julie Kelbert and Superintendent Doak met with the York Selectboard to provide a comprehensive update on the progress of our school reorganization planning.
The presentation aimed to keep our community informed and transparent about the future of our facilities. Key highlights from the session include:
The Catalyst: A look back at the original goals and community needs that initiated this conversation.
Core Factors: An overview of the data being analyzed, including enrollment trends, building conditions, and educational programming requirements.
Strategic Options: A review of the most viable reorganization models currently under consideration.
We encourage all community members to review the full slide deck below to stay informed on these important developments.
December 3, 2025 presentation to the York School Committee
The Committee received an updated presentation from Ms. Lisa Sawin of Harriman focused on the rough magnitude cost estimates associated with the building and grade level reconfiguration options.
The presentation first included a review of the defined scope of work originally requested by the Committee and the preliminary architectural options developed by Harriman.
Following this initial review, Ms. Sawin proceeded to share the rough magnitude cost estimates for each option, which are outlined in the slides below.
The Committee will continue to review the data from this presentation and will hold a meeting for public comment before bringing the matter to a vote. Dates and a timeline for these next steps are still being determined.
These graphs illustrate our enrollment trends for the past three academic years (2023–2025).
October 29, 2025 presentation to the York School Committee
Lisa Sawin (Harriman) presented updates to the draft facility plans, incorporating programming needs identified through further discussions with building principals. Several modifications were made to previous drafts of each option to better meet these identified needs. The presentation concluded with a side-by-side comparison of the options and their associated considerations. Harriman's next step is to submit this data to cost estimators; the resulting cost information will be presented to the Committee for informed decision-making.
