Purchase Requests

We welcome suggestions for books, periodicals, or other kinds of instructional materials to be added to our collections. School Committee Policy requires preview of all instructional videos before use with students. Requests that meet library materials selection policy guidelines will be honored as the budget allows.

Changes to YSD Libraries

In the past, our schools have been part of the statewide library consortium, which allowed us to borrow books from other libraries throughout Maine that were also members of the consortium. For a variety of reasons, the district has decided to withdraw from the Minerva consortium. (lack of benefit to public schools, budgetary reasons, keeping high demand books on our own local shelves, etc.)

All York community members  are all eligible for York Public Library cards, including students. You can easily request books to pick up there and also access their digital resources like the Cloudlibrary.

We have chosen Alexandria as our new library management system. This new system will still allow our schools to share their collections within the district only. If you have any questions about this, please let us know.
