Congratulations to the girls on a great season!! I neglected to mention uniform drop-off at Spring Awards. All uniforms from both JV & Varsity should be dropped off to Mr. Welch in his office. I will collect them there. Any questions let me know....I don't want to have to track you down...

We will play Cape Elizabeth @ Cape on Wednesday for first game of play-offs. Game time is 5:00, bus leaves @ 2:45.

Practice today will be at the high school, NOT Bog road. We will be on practice field until 3:30, then move when the boys finish. PLEASE bring water bottles...it will be very hot...maybe a run to beach to cool off?

I would like the following JV girls to join the varsity team for our trip to the play-offs: Erin Collins, Mackie Hill, Chelsea Hutchins, Amy O'Brien, Haley Francis, Catie Keenan and Mel Tardiff. As noted on the practice schedule, we will practice tomorrow 2:30-4:30 at the high school. I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Any parent who has been taking pictures of games or has some candids of either team that you would like to share, please e-mail them to me or give them to me on a CD. I can add them to the picture portion of the website for all to enjoy.

Team pictures will be taken on May 22 @ 3:00 prior to the Greely game.

Also, we are collecting $$$ for lunches for our away games. We have 6 away games, but will be collecting for 5 as Wells is nearby. Each game is $5 or $25 for the season. The lunches will be coming from Anthony's. We will have sign-up sheets for orders on Monday(4/27) at game. Checks can be made out to Rachel Collins who has been kind enough to offer to head up this project. Our first away game is Wednesday (4/27) so we need to get $$ in! Let me know if there are any questions.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO DRESS WARM AND IN LAYERS FOR PRACTICES! SHORTS & T-SHIRTS ARE NOT ENOUGH, EVEN WHEN THE FORECAST IS FOR 50'S OUTSIDE. IF YOU HAVE LACROSSE GLOVES OR REGULAR THIN GLOVES, PLEASE BRING THEM.

Welcome to the new website for York High School Girls Lacrosse. My hope is to provide any info that parents and players may need here. The most important information right now is that our preseason starts on March 31st at the York SportsCenter, and all girls must have their physicals up-to-date in order to try-out. If you are unsure of your physical status, you can check with Mr. Welch.

Also, things to bring to the first day are stick, goggles, mouthpiece, cleats and/or sneakers. I will update the practice schedule as it becomes available. All times and locations will be on this website in case you forget. All girls are welcome to try-out, there are no cuts planned. If you are a first time player, we do not have equipment to be borrowed, you must come with your own. This can be expensive...if you are in a situation of need, please contact me.

Congratulations to our 2008 Captains! They are Kiah Voyer-Colbath, Dayna Dervishian & Emily Morin.

State of Mind
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you won't;
If you like to win, but don't think you can,
It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost;
For out in the world you'll find
Success begins with a fellow's will
It's all in a state of mind.

For many a game is lost
Ere even a play is run,
And many a coward fails
Ere even his work is begun.

Think big and your deeds will grow,
Think small and you'll fall behind;
Think that you can and you will;
It's all in a state of mind.

If you think you are out classed, you are;
You've got to think high to rise;
You've got to be sure of your self before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the fellow who thinks he can.
