This year, we’re trying something a little different. Instead of writing a paper based on research, you will be working in groups to create part of an overall project. The class will research and then report on three different topics, all areas in which history seems to be repeating itself, hence the “Then and Now” idea. This assignment will ask you to combine Language Arts, Western Civilization, Art and Technology to create a web page dedicated to informing the public of your findings. The following are the three topics:
Scientific
Political
Social/Economic
We will brainstorm any additional categories to add to the ones listed above. Each group will be comprised of eight students (one group will have nine). Four will work on the “then” section and four will work on the “now” section. The groups will be responsible for breaking up the work. Each group member must contribute equally. You will receive further information about note taking and research methods later, as well as a detailed rubric, due dates, etc.
