Log It!
Second grade students at VES have the opportunity to use a pedometer (step counter) every time they have PE. Pedometers are used to motivate students and measure exercise. Pedometers help students challenge themselves and others to exercise more and take as many steps as possible. Interested in pedometers? Check them out right here.

Log It! is a program invented by the professionals at PE CENTRAL. This is a web site dedicated to PE and PE teachers. Students that use the page can keep track of their steps every day of the year (I keep track of them in PE class). Click on the link to the left and check it out. For help with Log it!, try this page. If that does not help contact me and I will help you.

ACES
All Children Exercise Simultaneously is a one of a kind program where people all around the world exercise at the very same time. The purpose of the event is to promote proper health and fitness habits.
VES enjoys participating in this event as a way of involving students and staff. We have had dances in the gym, gone for walks around the school grounds and sampled many different PE activities on past ACES days. Check out these pictures from last year's event.

TV Turn-off Week
TV Turn-off Week is a national effort that encourages children and adults to watch much less television in order to promote healthier lives and communities. This is a week in April where the goal is to be active and do other things besides sit in front of the tube.

Special Olympics
The Special Olympics is a yearly event that takes place in Kittery. These events are linked to Special Olympics Maine. These are olympic-type sports that take place in an environment that is suited for individuals with intellectual disabilities. York Schools participate in these events every May at Shapleigh Middle School. For more information click on the Special Olympics link on the left.
