Jump Rope For Heart is a fund raising program from the American Heart Association. It is a way of promoting the value of physical activity to elementary school children while showing them they can contribute to their community's welfare. This is a time when children can establish the foundation for movement skills. These are also the years when positive learning experiences can help establish a positive attitude and appreciation for participating in regular, daily physical activity for life. By jumping rope and securing sponsors, students raise money for the fight against heart
disease and stroke while learning about
* the seriousness of heart disease and stroke
* the lifelong benefits of physical activity
* the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle
At Village, our events consist of jumping stations. Each station is an activity that we have practiced that is either jumping rope a certain way or jumping with a different piece of equipment. Music is always popular too! All events take place during regularly scheduled PE classes.
For those students who choose to raise money The American Heart Association offers "thank-you gifts". For a look at what is offered check the link above.
