Own home-based travel business |
Mother of three. Jason, 26, lives in CO. Autumn, age 23, lives in York. Both are married with one child each. Will, age 15, lives with us. I have always lived within an hour of York, but it's much nicer to live in it! Re-married Dec. 2000 and couldn't be happier! My husband also has two boys and one girl.
I own a small travel business after tiring of being a School Food Service Director for 13 years. Traveling and selling the world is truly a joy. My husband, Michael is in radio advertising.
We are enjoying good health and work hard at staying that way. I recently started teaching aerobics after 20 years of being taught! We have grandchildren to chase now! Some may recall my obsession with natural foods in high school. I actually got serious once about buying a health food store. I held a career in Food Service Management for 16 years right after college.
My parents still live in the same house but are retired now. My daughter's family lives upstairs in their house and we live just behind them, a short stroll through the trees. |

University Professor |
I attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, after graduating from York High School(1972). From 1973 until 1975 I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church or Mormon) in Italian speaking Switzerland (Ticino) and northern Italy for two years as is the custom in our Church. Interestingly, I went to Italy in 1972 for the first time as part of the York High School tour group, never expecting that my life would become so interwoven with Italy and the Mediterranean. I resumed my education at BYU in 1975, completing a BA degree (1978) in Middle Eastern Studies. The day after completing my degree I married Jeni Broberg from Glendale,
California. We now have five children (Nathan, Zac, Zanna, Marin, and Baiely) ranging from 21 years to 11 years of age. My wife majored in Classics, emphasizing First Century Greek, and is an author of several books and articles dealing with women's studies. I continued my studies at University of California Irvine (UCI) receiving a Ph.D in history and accepted a full-time teaching appointment back at BYU soon thereafter. My university assignments center around research, writing, and teaching, including a one year assignment at the BYU Center for Near Eastern Studies in Jerusalem. Although not a native of York, I enjoyed my experience living in Southern Maine during my Dad's tour of duty at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. I recall the teachers, staff and students with fond memories because they enriched my life in so many ways.
I am proud to be a member of the 1972 graduating class at York High School. |

I graduated from University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1976, with a B.S. Degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and a minor in Mathematics. In 1976-77 I attended graduate school at University of Maine at Orono.
I taught for a couple of years and then entered the field of "domestic engineering" to raise three children, Matthew (now 18); Nathan (now 16) and Allyson (now 14). In 1989 I was divorced and went to work at the Kennebec Valley YMCA as the Childcare Director. I worked there until 1992 which was when the Y decided to downsize and eliminated my job. It was just long enough for me to meet my husband Alan. We were married in January 1995. Sad, to have to say, he died January 1998 of cancerous brain tumors.
I currently work for the City of Augusta, as the Supt. of Childcare. I oversee all the school age childcare programs, 3 summer camps, and a Teen Parent School Childcare Program. Just a bit busy...
Last year, I helped develop a Teen Center in downtown Augusta. As it worked out, I was personally able to purchase the 5-story building the center is housed in. The Teen Center is in the lower section of the building and the other floors have businesses, and on the 3rd floor is a fitness center with 2 racquetball courts. The top level of the building is a dance studio. Just something extra to keep me busy...If you are in the area stop in, it is called Flight II Fitness...
I live in Readfield, Maine, just outside of Augusta.
I would love to hear from any old friends from YHS. |
