Laurie (Carpenter) Rowan
Elementary teacher
Kittery, ME 03904
After graduating from U.of M. in Orono in 1968, I taught seventh grade
in Vermont for a few years. We moved on to Reading, PA and Memphis, TN
before settling in Kittery in 1977. I spent several years at home,
raising three sons, and have been teaching third and fourth grade in
Kittery since 1988. Working in the same system with the sons of
classmates (Janny Eldredge Roberge's son Mike and Katie Ellis Wicker's
son Rich) has made me realize just how old I'm getting. My own kids
are living in Atlanta, New York City and the UK, so we don't get to see
them too often. Current favorite pastimes are genealogy and
working on the house. My husband and I have spent the last several
summers fixing up our 1911-vintage home.

I'm retired
Kittery Point, Maine 03905-5616
After graduating, I worked at York Hospital doing diets, then I decided
to work in my father's business, as a secretary until 1971, then went to
Tri County Hospital, and did the diets there, until I decided to change
my career to nursing, until I had
to retire in 1999, due to carpal tunnel in my hand. I keep
busy doing gardening, some golf, and swimming for therapy, and taking
care of one my great nephews.
I've live on Spruce Creek for twenty-five years,
and we have no children. We enjoy going out to eat, and taking day
trips. We also enjoy the beautiful
sunsets, over looking the water. In the winter I enjoy doing crafts. I
like being retired, but I miss a lot of my clients, it's a pleasure if
you can go to work, and enjoy it as much as I did.

I have a loving husband and a beautiful daughter. My husband Dan and I
have been married for 37 years. Our daughter Dawn just graduated from
high school this year and is currently working at petsmart as a groomer.
Dan will retire in 4 years and we are planning on moving further south
to
Myrtle Beach, SC. I think we should start having reunions every two
years now that we all are growing older. Hope to hear from some of you
and I can't wait to see you at the next reunion!
