English Language Learners

The York Schools welcome multicultural and linguistically diverse students from all countries and backgrounds. The York ELL (English Language Learner) program is designed for students whose primary language is not English, speak no English language or may have limited English proficiency in any of the four domains; speaking, reading, listening and writing. The ELL program provides a range of services and individual support for all levels of language in order to meet state and local academic standards. By state requirement, progress is measured annually, through WIDA, the World Instructional Development Assessment.
