English Language Arts Curriculum

The York School Department K-12 Curriculum Teams have aligned the York K-12 Curriculum to the Revised Maine Learning Results, Parameters for Essential Instruction in English language arts.

Kindergarten through Grade 8 have adopted block literacy programs, with Six Traits Writing used K-12.

Grades 6 through 8 use the Houghton Mifflin anthology to support classrom instruction.

York High School offers a four year required sequence for all students. Students are encouraged to choose from AP, Honors and CP level course selections in preparation for college English.
