PRINCIPAL GOAL:
Support the implementation of York’s Educational Strategic Plan for 2009-2012 as adopted October 7, 2009.
DEVELOPMENTAL GOALS:
BUDGET
1. Complete the Collective Bargaining Process with YTA
- Maintain commitment to interest-based bargaining
- Focus on a fair and equitable settlement
- Balance ability to pay with desired results
2. Prepare for the Collective Bargaining Process with EPS
- Review the language in the current negotiated agreement
- Review pay scale comparison to other communities
- Identify areas of interest/concern
- Establish a plan for addressing the needs
- Identify team members
3. Recognize Balance of Fiscal Needs of Schools to Taxpayer’s Ability to Pay
4. Include the Community in Budget and Long-Range Planning
- Monitor impact of changes to state aid money
- Create a long term plan for dealing with reductions in state aid
5. Engage the Community in Required Budget Validation Process
- Understand the implications to this requirement
- Develop timeline for budget meeting and validation vote
- Work with the Budget Committee and Selectmen to implement this requirement
- Create a plan for public awareness of this change in budget approval process
EDUCATIONAL
6. Monitor Student Performance at Grades 5 & 6
- Receive periodic reports from the administration
- Support needed resources
- Review 2009 assessment data
7. Support Implementation of FLES and Horizons
- Direct the Superintendent to include in the draft FY10 budget
- Educate the Budget Committee and Community about program needs
- Actively engage the community in understanding the need
FACILITIES
8. Complete the Construction of York High School Music Instructional Space
- Schedule regular reports at School Committee meetings
- Monitor the timeline for completion
- Inform the community of progress
- Celebrate the completion
9. Act on Long Range Facilities Plan Recommendations
- Review the plan presented by the Facilities Director
- Analyze impact on FY11 and future budgets
- Create a fiscal plan to address future facilities need
