York School Department's
10th SUMMER INSTITUTE
June 22- 25, 2010
at
York High School
1 Robert Stevens Drive,
York, ME 03909
The York School Department extends a warm invitation to K-12 educators to participate in our 10th Summer Institute, Tuesday June 22nd through Friday June 25th, 2010. Five courses, ranging from Readers' Workshop to 21st Century Skills will be offered during the four-day professional development session. Teachers and educational technicians who attend the Summer Institute earn either graduate course credit or Continuing Education Units that can be applied toward professional recertification. Courses are taught by York educators and contracted instructors. Bringing summer professional development opportunities directly to the York staff permits ease of access and allows teachers to enjoy time for sustained learning in a relaxed and collegial environment.
Enrollment in the Summer Institute continues to draw educators from York and other school districts. "By broadening the participation, we are able to offer a greater range of courses, and make it cost effective and engaging for teachers. York educators thrive on the interaction with fellow staff from other school systems who share their interest in a particular subject," says Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Henry R. Scipione.
We encourage you to click through the information listed in the side navigation bar to discover why you should consider spending four days learning with us this summer.
